A solenoid valve
is quite simply a device composed
of 2 main parts.The first is a
solenoid (electromagnet)
with its core and the second is
a valve body containing one or
more orifices. Flow through an
orifice is shut off or allowed
by the movement
of the core when the solenoid is
energized or de-energized.
We all come into contact with these
products everyday without ever
considering them. Solenoid valves
are present in self-service gas
pumps, convenience
vending machines and car wash equipment.
Solenoid operated valves are available
from 1/8 in. to 3 in. pipe sizes
in operating pressures of 5 psi
to 2200 psi. The year 1966 saw
the development of the original
Red
Hat valve concept.This industry
leading updated concept has the
solenoid enclosure and
internal coil integrated into one
assembly by means of encapsulation.
